Safety in Low Profile Car Ramps

Car Ramps

http://www.raceramps.com/car-ramps.aspxLow profile car ramps need to adhere to a specific quality. This quality can often come with a higher price tag. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages when all of the features are added up. Modern car ramps are made of lighter material than in the past. The design is mostly the same, as there is little manufactures can do to upgrade their products.

A low profile car ramp is necessary for cars that have a low ground clearance. This often includes cars like the Corvette, Dodge Viper, Porches, Ferrari, and the new line of Ford Mustangs. Even the Dodge Intrepid will require a low profile ramp given the length of the front bumper. When having to work on the front underside of cars like the vehicles mentioned, a normal car ramp would severely damage the front end of a car. Not only would the front end be damaged, but there would be no success at properly raising the vehicle onto the supporting ramps.

A ramp should be able to hold a minimum of 3,000 pounds. This will ensure the safety of the mechanic, even though because only a portion of the car is being supported, it is always… Continue reading

Used Car Donations

Car Donations

usedcardonating.comIf you have a used car or truck to sell or dispose of, you can be big help to other people by donating the car it to a charity. There are many very worthy organizations that will pick up your car in almost any condition and take it away to auction for whatever proceeds they can get from the car donation.

It is not always easy to sell a used car, and depending on the mileage and the overall shape it is in, you may find it very hard to sell at all. By donation of the car there are some income tax deductions that can help your finances in return. This is a win-win situation for everyone involved. The process of donating a car is fairly easy to do. You call or email the charity and they will typically ask you a few questions about the type of vehicle and the general condition. You must have the title of ownership that you will later sign over to the charity. They may provide an online form for car donations and related information.

Toyota Cars Top Reliability and Safety Lists

Despite all of the recalls and bad press Toyota had a few months ago they have pulled through stronger and better than ever. Some recent surveys about car reliability and dependability show that Toyota is still at the top of the list. Toyota as a company has also stepped up and added some major safety features to its line-up of cars for 2011.

Over 1.3 million vehicle owners who are also readers of Consumer Reports voted for which cars they found most reliable. The study covered model years 2001 to 2010. The vehicles that made the list of Most Reliable Cars must also have performed well in government and insurance industry crash and rollover tests. The cars also had to have electronic stability control available in a mainstream high-volume trim line in order to be considered. The results of the reliability study put Toyota cars at the top of the list. Models from Toyota, Scion and Lexus (brands of Toyota) were among the most reliable cars and earned top scores in five different vehicle categories. The Toyota Yaris, FJ Cruiser, Sienna V6 and Tundra V6 all scored top scores in the study. The Lexus LX also earned top marks.

Asian Brands to Step up Luxury Vehicle Production

Asian brands, as far as we can remember, are known for their economy vehicles. Even Toyota and Honda are known to produce vehicles that are at par with the Big Three’s vehicles in performance but these car makers from Asia seem to hold the upper hand when it comes to pricing. They are also known for the reliability of their non-luxury vehicles which rivals that of luxury brands.

In recent years though, Japanese and Korean automakers have invested in the luxury segment. Honda and Toyota each created a luxury division and they come in the form of the brands Acura and Lexus respectively. These luxury brands have become popular among American car buyers for their reliability and the luxurious features that they bring to the table and to the road.

This year, Asian brands are set to strengthen their hold on the luxury segment of the American auto market. Aside from the Acura and Lexus, another Asian luxury car brand has made its presence felt in the U.S. auto scene. Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan which is Japan’s third largest car manufacturer, has shown that they have what it takes to compete in the U.S. luxury car market.

SUVs are one of the most in demand vehicles right now, mainly because they are powerful, safe, and offer large interior space. Due to the increase in demand for SUVs, most car manufacturers in the automotive market right now are increasing production of the SUV.

The Chevrolet Tahoe – A Powerful and Reliable SUV

The Chevrolet Tahoe falls under the full size SUV model, produced by the General Motors group. Both GMC and the Chevrolet sold the two various sized SUVs under the brand names Jimmy and Blazer during the early 1990s, and now Chevrolet has brought out a new full-fledged SUV design with powerful specs on form of the Tahoe.

In the year 1994, the Chevrolet named the mid size S-10 Blazer as the model Blazer and also named the full size Blazer as the Tahoe. The model vehicles Yukon from the GMC and the Tahoe from the Chevrolet are currently serving as full size SUV models from the General Motors group. The wheel bases, which are lengthened furthermore, are available for both the Yukon as Yukon XL and the Tahoe as Suburban.

The Most and Least Reliable Cars – How Reliable is Your Car

Over the last decade cars have become increasingly reliable. However, large variations in reliability performance do still exist, and reliability is certainly something that should be considered when purchasing a car and deciding whether a warranty is required. A warranty is a type of insurance policy, meaning that if a covered part suffers a mechanical or electrical failure resulting in a breakdown, the warranty will cover the cost of replacement parts and labour. Therefore there is full peace of mind as you know that you will never be left with a huge repair bill to pay.

Warranty Direct and Motoreasy are the two main providers of warranties in the UK. As a price guideline, a 4 year old Peugeot that has traveled 40,000 miles will cost £230 to cover for one year. However, most cars come with a 3 year warranty and if it doesn’t come as standard then many retailers offer a warranty separately. When deciding whether to purchase a warranty separately you need to consider the reliability of your car.

Warranty Direct have gathered data from millions of pounds worth of claims every year to compile the ‘Reliability Index’, a complete guide to the reliability of cars on… Continue reading

Best 10 Reliable Used Cars

There is no objection among sellers that buying a used car exceeds the monetary value of buying a brand new car right off the lot, making it a better buy. This simple fact is due to depreciation on a vehicle, losing nearly half of its value in the first three years.

The Consumer Reports provides an Annual Auto Survey from their National Research Center, which reflects the latest trends in automobile reliability to educate buyers on the best used cars on the road today.

Cars are rated best and worst in terms of reliability based on the model, the year, and the price of the vehicle. Data is taken from 1.3 million vehicle responses over a nine year period of time.

When buying a used car, it makes sense that a newer used car will be superior to an older used car simply because it has had fewer years to deteriorate, less miles and therefore less normal wear and tear.

Per the Consumer Reports website data taken from this year’s automobile survey show there are six 2008 models that exhibit either the same or even fewer problems than 2010 model vehicles on average.

The consensus taken from the data further… Continue reading
